Rhodes is the fourth largest Greek island with about 870 square miles. It is located in the Aegean Sea only about 6 miles from the Turkish coast and is home to around 125,000 inhabitants. More than half of the population lives in the capital Rhodes City, which is also the economic and tourist centre of the island.
Official language is Greek, national currency is the Euro. Rhodes is about 270 miles away from the Greek capital Athens. Rhodes has its own international airport in the northwest of the island (Paradeissi), which makes the journey very comfortable.
Mount Attavyros is the highest peak on Rhodes at 1215 metres, and the landscape in the interior of the island is very mountainous. The high plains in the coastal area usually drop steeply, in the north and south of Rhodes the nature is clearly flatter. Besides Crete, the largest island of Greece, Rhodes is one of the most important tourist regions of the country.
Climate on Rhodes
The weather on Rhodes is an essential aspect for the touristic success of the island, which is one of the sunniest places in Europe with over 3000 hours of sunshine per year. The temperatures on Rhodes range between 9 °C and 31 °C, although temperatures of up to 38 °C are possible, especially in high summer from the beginning of July to the end of August. As a rule there is no rain at all at this time of year, from April to September Rhodes is extremely dry.
The winter months of November to February are characterized by slightly more rainfall of up to 5.83 in, especially January and February usually bring some rain. Temperatures now oscillate between 8 °C to 11 °C at night, during the day it is also pleasantly mild in winter with 15 °C to 18 °C. With the transition to early summer, the thermometer also climbs upwards, and from April onwards more than 9 hours of sunshine per day testify to an excellent climate.
From the middle of June the 30 °C mark will be broken for the first time, the west coast always stays a little cooler than the east coast (up to 7 °C difference) due to the breeze from the sea. Even in high summer, the low humidity ensures that even high temperatures are bearable. The water temperature is above 20 °C from June to November and reaches its peak in August with up to 26 °C.

When to go to Rhodes?
The season on Rhodes in Greece starts when the bathing temperatures reach the end of May and lasts until November. The best time to visit Rhodes is the summer months from June to September, with up to 13 hours of sunshine and air temperatures of up to 23 °C at night. Ideal conditions for an unforgettable beach holiday and great days under the Greek sun!
But autumn also has its charms from the beginning of October to mid-November, especially as it is still possible to bathe in the sea during this time. At this time of the year it is much quieter on the island and many hotels offer attractive low season offers.

A very special highlight is the Acropolis of Lindos, also the white houses in the picturesque village Lindos are very worth seeing.
Windsurfers as well as kitesurfers can use the wind for their sport perfectly in Ialysos, on the beach of the Prasonissi peninsula. Another highlight is the motocross track in Faliraki. The neighbouring island Symi is ideal for a day trip, here you can admire the clearest water of the Mediterranean Sea. Our favourite bays and most beautiful beaches on Rhodes are St Pauls Bay, Agathi Beach and Anthony Quinn Bay.

Travel time was Mite October. On arrival in the evening rain and storm. The next day still a little cloudy. Beach weather at noon. So it went on – always around 28°, very pleasant due to a constant light breeze. Again and again!

At the beginning of the 14 days it was 32 degrees and towards the end the thermometer climbed to 40 degrees but it was really good and pleasant really cool and good and it was fun
