With over 65000 square miles, the main island of Cuba is the largest island in the entire Caribbean. The distance to the American mainland (Key West) is only 96 miles at the next point.
Nevertheless, there are still worlds between the former arch-enemies Cuba and the USA. It is only slowly that the embargo, which has lasted for decades, is being approximated and gradually lifted.
Cuba’s highest mountain is Pico Turquino with a height of 1974 metres. The largest city of the island state is the capital Havana with over 2 million inhabitants. Apart from Havana, the most important tourist regions are Varadero, the Cayo Coco, the Valle de Viñales and Holguin on the north coast of Cuba.
Due to the influence of the north-east trade wind, two seasons in particular can be distinguished in Cuba. The dry season with comparatively low rainfall runs from November to April, the hotter and much wetter rainy season starts in May and ends slowly at the end of October.
This period of the rainy season also includes the hurricane season, which can cause tropical cyclones, some of which can cause severe devastation, especially between June and October. Statistically, July and August are the hottest months in Cuba, and they also have very high humidity levels.
In the course of climate change, shifts and irregularities have repeatedly occurred in recent years. Recently, for example, there were quite dry September and October weeks, while there was particularly heavy rain in November. The water temperature is suitable for swimming all year round.

Climate in Cuba
The climate in Cuba is typical for the Caribbean and can be described as tropical to subtropical. Consequently, there are no classical seasons in Cuba as we are used to in Europe. When is the best time to travel to Cuba?
Despite its rainy and hurricane season, Cuba is also a very popular destination during the summer months. With the restrictions and risks mentioned above, Cuba can therefore easily be described as a year-round destination, as many travellers do not let the rain spoil their holiday fun.
In addition, unstable weather conditions and rainy days can also occur during the dry season in winter. In general, however, the humidity outside the summer is much more pleasant and the temperatures are no longer perceived as oppressive.
We therefore recommend the period from November to April as the best travel season for Cuba. Above all the time around Christmas and New Year’s Eve as well as over the Easter holidays is on Cuba however absolute high season with accordingly high overnight accomodation prices and many visitors.
Especially in November and from mid-January to mid-March, those who are not dependent on school holidays will find an ideal travel season with a very good price-performance ratio.

Even if the coasts of Cuba lure with great resorts and beaches, a pure hotel vacation is almost a bit a pity. The capital Havana alone captivates every traveller with its somewhat morbid charm. The old town of Habana Viejo as well as the Plaza de Catedral are a must!
In the old colonial city of Trinidad, the bear is literally stepping. Hardly a day goes by without a street festival with live music in the narrow alleys with the colourful houses. If you come to Varadero, don’t miss the cool caves of Saturno Cave.
Among the most beautiful beaches in Cuba are Guardalavaca Beach (Holguin), Santa Maria Beach, Cayo Guillermo, Sirena Beach and Playa Paraiso (Cayo Largo) as well as the world famous Varadero Beach.

Cuba: Experiences of our Visitors
It was nice and warm on almost every day and not so hot that it would have been difficult. On average it was 26 degrees in the shade, thus truly a pampering program for skin, soul and health. In Santiago de Cuba it was of course a bit hotter, but also there we fared very well. In fact, it rained heavily in both Havana and SdC on three days, but only on one evening it was so bad that it was impossible to go outside. I would repeat this holiday at any time, because it was many hours of sunshine every day and usually the air was fresh enough to be very active.
Weather Rating: 5 stars – Excellent
The weather was great every day! Although it rained only twice within 2 weeks the country was still very green. During the day it was very warm only the nights became occasionally somewhat fresh.
Weather Rating: 5 stars – Excellent
it was mostly sunny with over 25 degrees, one day only rain and otherwise cloudy. Very pleasant climate for excursions.
Weather Rating: 4 stars – Good
A good travel season, before the rainy season. Day temperatures around 29 to 33 degrees Celsius, within two weeks 4-5 hours of rain. Ideal.
Weather Rating: 4 stars – Good
Sunny and warm throughout, water temperature approx. 25 degrees, air temperature approx. 28 degrees.
Weather Rating: 5 stars – Excellent
Predominantly sunny. The wind was pleasant. Rare showers. Very good for sightseeing and bathing holidays
Weather Rating: 4 stars – Good
Great weather on our Cuba tour over Christmas. A truly unforgettable trip at pleasant temperatures, not too hot but pleasantly warm
Weather Rating: 5 stars – Excellent
Despite the forecast around 28 to 30 degrees we already had stormy, wet and cold 24 degrees on arrival, felt 15 degrees through the gusty wind. After 2 days it got better, so that we experienced 35 degrees and standing heat especially in the south of Cuba, the city of Trinidad. All in all a charming island with charming and charming people who live very modestly.
I would like to win the voucher for the upcoming Buenos Aires holiday.
Weather Rating: 3 stars – Mixed
A dream of blue skies, warm as summer, but not too hot.
Weather Rating: 5 stars – Excellent
were in havana and on the beach of the caya coco in november 2015 – the weather couldn’t have been better! you should only think of enough sun cream, otherwise your back will turn fiery red after a short time.
Weather Rating: 5 stars – Excellent
