License Information available under 'Proof of Image Sources' England represents the south of Great Britain. This region is characterized by a humid oceanic climate. Characteristic for the weather are moderately warm summers and cool winter months. The Gulf Stream strongly influences the climate. Due to its island location, the weather is expected to be very changeable all year round.

The southwest of England is particularly marked by the Gulf Stream. This ocean current transports a lot of warm air and ensures that the winter months do not get colder than 8 °C. Even after dusk, temperatures generally do not drop below zero degrees Celsius.

In the summer months, temperatures in London rise to a maximum of 22 °C, in Liverpool to up to 20 °C. More precipitation falls in northern England in the course of the year than in the southern regions. Here you can expect only 19.69 in of rain per year.

When to visit England?

The winter months in England are characterized by little solar radiation. Short days and quite a lot of rain create an uncomfortable atmosphere. The best time to visit England is from June to September. These months are characterised by lower precipitation values than the spring and winter months. In addition, the temperatures are much more pleasant.

In England there seems to be a real summer with over 20 °C and up to seven hours of sunshine a day. For all nature and botany lovers, the spring month of May is recommended. Gardens and parks are wrapped in colourful dresses and offer wonderful backdrops for long walks and hikes. If you are more attracted to the cities, you should decide to travel in the summer months for climatic reasons.

Unfortunately, the good weather also brings with it a great crowd of people. Especially in the capital London you should plan waiting times for many highlights and attractions. But this does not cloud the experience in this wonderful city.

Highlights and Attractions

London in particular has countless cultural highlights to offer. London’s Westend offers a stage for a large number of musicals and plays. A visit to the district alone is highly recommended. Bloomsbury is home to one of London’s most famous museums, the British Museum. The Natural History Museum is well worth a visit for its architecture alone.

You can enjoy a wonderful view from the world-famous London Eye, an absolute highlight of London. Other popular sights in England are Windsor Castle, Stonehenge near Amesbury and the Minack Theatre (Penzance). Our favourite beach in England is Woolacombe Beach on the north coast of the English county of Devon.
