In terms of landscape and culture, Jordan is a country of indescribable diversity. Fascinating historical sites, rock towns, inspiring deserts or relaxation on the Red Sea? Jordan offers unlimited possibilities for an unforgettable trip!
The kingdom has very limited agricultural use, the largest economic sector of the country is the mining and export of phosphate (e.g. for fertilizers). Tourism accounts for about one tenth of the gross domestic product.
Jordan’s most important sights and attractions include the rock town of Petra, the citadel of the capital Amman, the ancient Jerash, the Wadi Rum desert, Aqaba on the Red Sea, the Madaba mosaics and the deepest point on earth on the Dead Sea.
The Mediterranean climate in north-western Jordan also brings warm, dry summer months, but very humid winter months. The hilly region cools down strongly in winter, most of the rain falls between November and March. Snow can even fall at high altitudes.
The south and east of Jordan has a typical desert climate, especially in midsummer extreme heat can occur. Basically, it can be said that the rain increases significantly from east to west and from south to north. The eastern desert therefore has the least rain, the mountain regions in the west and northwest the most.

When is the best time to travel in Jordan?
The climate differences described above also make a general recommendation of the travel time for Jordan somewhat more complicated. In general, Aqaba and the Dead Sea are particularly good to visit all year round, even if very high temperatures are to be expected in high summer.
For round trips and visits to other parts of the country, however, the summer months can be too exhausting, while the winter months are also subject to some restrictions due to the high humidity. We therefore recommend March to mid-June and September to mid-November as the best travel season for Jordan.

Petra was the best.
Weather Rating: 4 stars – Good
We had sultry days in Wadi Rum on Di. and Mi. before Easter, which ended in a violent thunderstorm at night on Maundy Thursday. The following day it was cool and windy, but from Good Friday on a clear sky with wonderful temperatures for hiking in the desert.

Ideal travel weather for exploring this almost unbelievable country. Today I still think almost daily of the many impressions and experiences, May was a really ideal travel time.
