The spring and autumn months are quite cold and also characterised by occasional precipitation of up to 2.2 in, for example in southern Bitola. When to visit Macedonia?
The best time to visit Macedonia is between June and September. During this time you can do excellent hiking and trekking tours in warm temperatures and dry weather. The spring and autumn months are also suitable for this, with somewhat milder temperatures but also a higher risk of rain.
Macedonia also offers many opportunities for alpine sports. The months of January to March are ideal for winter sports in the mountains. The temperatures here are correspondingly cold and regular rainfall ensures well-snowed slopes.
If you would like to make a cultural mark on your trip to Skopje, you can put out your feelers here as early as April. 2.36 in of rainfall in May is manageable and nothing stands in the way of an extensive exploration of the city.

In Skopje there are many highlights to see on a city tour. The Old Bazaar offers very good shopping facilities in an authentic atmosphere. The Stone Bridge offers an excellent backdrop especially after dusk with beautiful light illuminations.
In the southern town of Ohrid you will find the lake of the same name which presents itself impressively, a real Macedonian gem. At the edge of the lake is St. Jovan Kaneo, one of the landmarks of Macedonia. For all photographers, this church offers a popular”postcard motif”.
