In the cooler season from November to March, temperatures during the day are around 25 °C to 27 °C, and in midsummer from mid-April to the end of October, daily temperatures are constantly above the 30 °C mark. When is the best travel time for Marsa Alam?
The best time to visit Marsa Alam is between mid-October and early May. During this time, the average temperature reaches 32 °C and at least cools down a little at night. At these temperatures, activities can be experienced comfortably even in non-air-conditioned vehicles and on the beach it is always warm enough for relaxation and bathing fun.
Those who don’t have any problems with the high heat and also can stand maximum temperatures beyond the 40 °C mark, are of course also in the best hands in Marsa Alam during the popular summer months. Since there is no rainy season, Marsa Alam is very good to travel all year round. During the summer holidays in July and August, however, it gets very crowded in the hotels.

Despite its small, manageable size, the city of Marsa Alam with its surrounding countryside and the nearby Red Sea offers several national parks and attractions worth seeing. Diving and snorkeling on the coast is comparable to snorkeling and diving in Hurghada or Sharm El Sheikh, as it was in the 80s of the 20th century. There you will enter a wonderful underwater world where you can see dolphins, manatees and almost untouched coral reefs.
31 miles south of Marsa Alam is Wadi-Al-Gamal, a national park whose area reaches to the beaches of the Red Sea and consists to a large extent of desert, coral reefs and a mountain range. One of the most famous beaches of Marsa Alam is Marsa Murena. A place where you can snorkel for sea turtles, dugongs, which are the sea cows and dolphins listed above. The Pharaonic Gold Mine and the Emerald Gold Mine are mines worth seeing for those interested. Furthermore, there is a temple Sethos I. near Wadi Miya, which should be worth a visit for culture enthusiasts.
