On this page, you will find information about the climate and the best time to visit Seychelles. We created climate tables and charts for the locations of Mahé und La Digue. These contain details about temperatures, precipitation and more.
Furthermore, we analyzed all climate data and provide a recommendation about which months are best to visit Seychelles for your holiday.
The three main islands Mahé, on which the capital Victoria is also located, as well as Praslin and La Digue, have particular touristic relevance.
Victoria itself has advertised for many years with the slogan “Smallest capital of the world”, which is in fact not true, but symbolically gives a good impression of the (manageable) area.
A total of 90,000 inhabitants live in the Seychelles, who mainly rely on gentle and high-class tourism. The most important airport is near Victoria on the main island of Mahé and is served by several international airlines.
Connections to the other islands are by domestic flight or by fast ferry. In the south below the Seychelles are the neighbouring islands of Madagascar, Mauritius and the Comoros.
The length of the day is also largely constant, with sunrise at almost exactly 6 o’clock in the morning and sunset at 6 o’clock in the evening throughout the year. The humidity in the Seychelles is always very high and is around 80 percent. In principle, the islands of Mahé, Praslin and La Digue are considered true year-round destinations, as there are only minor seasonal restrictions.
From December to early April, the Northwest Monsoon is the predominant rainy season in the Seychelles. As a rule, however, there are only short and strong showers before the sky usually clears up again. The drier period from May to the end of September is somewhat windier (southeastern monsoon), but strong storms are rare.
Usually the monsoon turns over during the transitional months in April and again in October or November. During these changing times it can sometimes come to a complete absence of wind, which sometimes makes the weather appear oppressively hot . The water temperature in the Indian Ocean is suitable for swimming 365 days a year at 26 °C to 29 °C, but depending on the wind higher waves can occur on one side of the islands.

Climate in Seychelles
The climate in the Seychelles is mainly determined by the influences of the monsoon, it is tropically warm all year round and the day temperatures range between 28 °C to 32 °C. Seasons as we know them in Europe do not exist on the Seychelles Islands. Due to the proximity to the equator, there are only slight fluctuations of a maximum of 4 °C during the course of the year, even at night it always remains very mild at 23 °C to 25 °C.The length of the day is also largely constant, with sunrise at almost exactly 6 o’clock in the morning and sunset at 6 o’clock in the evening throughout the year. When to travel to Seychelles?
Seychelles offers good conditions for a holiday all year round, with top-class resorts and some of the world’s most beautiful beaches. Due to the climate conditions described, we recommend the months of May to the end of September as the absolute best travel season in the Seychelles. It is now drier, more stable and the evenly mild wind ensures a very pleasant temperature.
However, we would like to point out that especially Praslin on the southern half of the island between June and September has to reckon with some alluvial deposits of seaweed. This is absolutely not a drama, it is rather the proof of an intact underwater world. At the same time, the other side of the island is, of course, mostly “blossom clean”. As I said: There are only minimal restrictions anyway, the Seychelles are beautiful at any travel time!

The city of Victoria is marked by British colonial heritage; in the city centre, for example, a clock tower (Victoria Clock Tower) is modelled on London’s Big Ben. The market with the neighbouring Hindu temple in Victoria, the botanical garden and the viewpoints at Morne Blanc are also worth a visit on Mahé. The most beautiful beaches of the main island are the Anse Intendance, the Petite Anse, Anse Takamaka, Port Launay and the very popular Beau Vallon Bay.
On Praslin, the Vallée du Mai National Park (UNESCO World Heritage Site) with the gigantic Coco de Mer nuts is one of the island’s sights. Our three favourite beaches on Praslin are Anse Volbert, Anse Petit Cour and the beautiful Anse Lazio.
La Digue is world famous for the granite rocks of Anse Source d`Argent, but Anse Cocos and Grand Anse are also among the most beautiful beaches in the world. If you want to discover the underwater world of the Seychelles while snorkelling and diving, you should take a trip to Ste. Anne Marine National Park and Aldabra. Countless bird species and wild turtles can be found on the islet of Cousin near Praslin.

Seychelles: Experiences of our Visitors
typical Seychelles weather, sometimes rain, mostly sun, water wonderfully warm, all in all, simply fantastic
Weather Rating: 4 stars – Good
mostly sunny, occasionally some rain mainly in the mountains and on the west coast, overcast on 3 of 14 days.
Weather Rating: 4 stars – Good
We were in December 2014 for 9 days on Mahé at the Beau Vallon. The climate at this time of the trip was fantastic, every day we had the best conditions and ideal bathing weather.
Weather Rating: 5 stars – Excellent
Our Seychelles holiday in September 2015 was beautiful in all respects. We had excellent weather on all three islands we visited – Mahé, Praslin and La Digue – and not a single drop of rain. Depending on the side of the island the sea can be a bit wavy, that was the case with us at the Anse Intendance, but it was also a lot of fun to jump through the waves. However, one should not underestimate the solar power in the Seychelles at any travel time, otherwise one spends the rest of the vacation with violent sunburn;)
